Jeremy Corbyn Reveals New UK Political Party
Corbyn, who led Labour from 2015 until 2020, was expelled from the party in 2024 after standing as an independent candidate in his Islington North seat.
Prior to his expulsion, he had been suspended due to his reaction to accusations of anti-Semitism within Labour—a charge he denied, labeling the allegations as politically motivated.
His supporters viewed the controversy as a targeted smear campaign linked to his strong anti-austerity and anti-war stance.
In a message posted on the social media platform X last Thursday, Corbyn stated that “it was time to build new kind of political party – one that belongs to you.”
He underscored the party’s dedication to addressing social inequality and economic disparities.
The new formation is anticipated to attract other left-wing politicians who have also been suspended or expelled from Labour, with particular attention on Zarah Sultana, the Member of Parliament for Coventry South.
Sultana faced disciplinary action in 2024 after voting to remove the cap on child benefits—a move that faced widespread criticism from anti-poverty advocates.
A website named “yourparty.uk” has been introduced; however, Sultana clarified that the official name of the party is “not called Your Party.”
Both Corbyn and Sultana highlighted the alarming statistic that 4.5 million children are currently living in poverty across the UK.
They condemned the “rigged system” where large corporations continue to profit from escalating utility bills, while “billions” of pounds are allocated to military spending.
The statement urged that “we cannot accept these injustices – and neither should you,” calling for a “mass redistribution of wealth and power” through increased taxation of the wealthiest individuals.
