Trump Pushes Republicans to Nationalize Voting in 15 States

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has advocated for Republicans to "nationalize" electoral processes across select states, alleging unauthorized immigrants are casting ballots and distorting outcomes.

During a podcast conversation with former FBI deputy director Dan Bongino released Monday, Trump asserted the Republican party faces electoral extinction unless undocumented immigrants undergo deportation from the US.

"These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally," he said, expressing surprise that his party lacks greater assertiveness on this matter.

"The Republicans should say: 'we want to take over, we should take over the voting in at least… 15 places, the Republicans ought to nationalize the voting'," he said, though he provided no further specifications.

When ABC news sought clarification on Trump's remarks, a White House spokesperson reportedly pointed toward the president's initiative to mandate photo identification verification for voting and eliminate no-excuse mail-in ballot systems.

Trump characterized certain states as "crooked" regarding their vote tallies in the 2024 election, and reiterated his longstanding assertion that he legitimately won the 2020 election, which he has long said was stolen.

Throughout Trump's reelection bid, Elon Musk similarly claimed illegal immigration was being exploited to manipulate voting dynamics in battleground states.

The tech magnate contended Democrats were "fast-tracking" citizenship grants to undocumented individuals, while concurrently transporting them to swing states to mobilize support and establish a "surefire way to win every election."

Illegal immigration—a cornerstone platform in Trump's reelection campaign—has progressively emerged as a flashpoint domestically.

Trump's immigration enforcement campaign has encountered a fresh surge of demonstrations sparked by mounting fury over the deadly shootings of two US citizens by federal agents in Minnesota last month.
